And there was silence
A little note to say I am still alive. I’ve been busy at work, and I am quite tired when I come home, so I just go to bed… and this leaves no time to blog. My laptop just died, but I managed to bring it back from the dead. This must make it a zombie. Windows decided to be an asshole and not let me register the key, because it claimed I am not in the right country for it. Although I...

First day at work
My first day at work was simultaneously interesting and boring. To be honest, It wasn’t really a first day at work - it was a first day at work training. Training will continue for two weeks, and then if we pass an exam, we’ll be deemed ready to begin for real. I showed up there and met two other foreigners who would be starting in the same position as me. I was quite pleased that the...

I've got a job...
I got a job at the workplace I was hoping to get. It starts this Thursday! I’m excited to see what will happen. While it’s not what I was educated for (art), I think it’s something that will suit me and that I will enjoy. It’s varied, I get to meet people, travel, and muck about with computers and teach people how to use programs and customize them. In other words,...

How to make a Paper Patchwork Notebook Cover! →
I just found this cute tutorial for creating a patchwork notebook cover using scrap paper. I’ve used a similar technique to cover a mini drawer set from IKEA, and I think it could be used for just about anything else too. Inspiring! Here’s a second post of even more patchwork notebook creations by Hanna and her mother right here.

The weirdest spam of them all...
My friend Janna has just started a new blog: eepshow. She hasn’t got many followers yet, but she makes up for that in spammers. And boy are these spammers weird. She’s going to start blogging the best of them, and she gave me permission to share the following one, which contains one of the most amazing or puzzling phrases I’ve heard. I’ve decided to highlight my favorite...

Sitting outside with a laptop
It’s so inspiring to sit outside with the laptop, surfing all kinds of crafty and artsy blogs! It’s just a shame I can’t see a damn thing on this super-reflective screen. Still, at least I’m getting some fresh air and daylight while enjoying myself.

3 fun daily planners & a few ideas
I’ve got a really fun project going right now - designing a daily planner for a bar that hosts art exhibitions every month. So it will be an artist a month. That planner already has a set style from last year, but I still love to look at other peoples’ designs to see what solutions they’ve come up with. I’ve focused mainly on the cover for this post, since there are so...

Importing Flickr to Tumblr
I’ve just linked my (highly neglected) Flickr photostream to Tumblr using Yahoo Pipes and this tutorial by jongarcia.info. While it is possible to directly import the Flickr RSS stream, the images show up as these teeny tine thumbnails that you need a magnifying glass for. So I’ve opted to use this fancy-schmancy piping system that I don’t quite understand to modify the feed and...

39 posts to go
So, I only have 39 posts to go in my manual importation of old blog entries into tumblr! Exciting.  And probably less than that even, since I’m not going to bother importing stupid memes unless they’re something super-unique. I mean, seriously, who cares what I’m listening to right now, what time it is, and when the last time I picked my nose was?

Huldra's List: 4 recommended art blogs
Lise just gave me a short list of four of her favorite art blogs to follow. And if you’re wondering why on earth I’m the one posting this instead of her, it’s because I enjoyed her recommendations so much I just had to share them. I have yet to dwelve deeper into them, but meanwhile, I love what I’m seeing. They all have unique styles and make my very jealous of their...

Why am I flooding the dashboard?
Anyone logged into tumblr following me may possible be getting flooded by posts by me from 2-3 years ago. I apologize for this. I’m not deliberately being annoying! I’m simply copying posts from my previous blogging site on to this blog, since I stopped using that one.  “Whyyy is she doing this?” you may ask. Well, I like some of those posts and I like having a back-up in...

Design*Sponge » sewing 101: wool felt pot holders →
Find out how to make these simple but beautiful felt pot holders on design sponge. They’re so pretty. I love the little imperfections that makes every leaf unique. And this project just happens to combine my longing for autumn leaves (which are not present in this country) and my desire to use my sewing machine (also not present). Via craft

Fighting the internet
I’m in the process of finally uploading and updating my design portfolio. I’m doing it in a way I’ve never done before - that is, I’m working with modx to create a sort of framework for the entire page. It’s a CMS (content management system), which put very simply means that once I have the system up and running, to update it should be no more difficult than writing...
