A really inspiring, cute needle-felted dragon. Tallydragon made this with a wire-frame skeleton, whic means it can be posed a little. I’ve done the same and it works really well!
I think I might have to felt something soon now that it’s nice and cool again…

I tried to make myself some cinnamon buns to cheer myself up, but it went horribly wrong.
First of all, I bought some kosher flour to make sure that the flour wouldn’t have any yeast in it. It’s not so easy to get non-self-raising flour when all the labels are in Hebrew only.
This strange flour had the consistency of SUGAR. This means my dough was very crumbly and fell apart as soon as you tried to lift it up. It was very dense and heavy.
It also didn’t rise at all.
However, this might all be due to the fact that what I thought was sugar was in fact salt.
Fuck.
I can’t even make cinnamon buns right in this country.
Shame I just wasted all the ingredients on this failed batch.
I didn’t realize it wasn’t going to work until I tried to taste a little bit from the very final stage, when I form the dough into the bun-shapes.
Poor Eyal has gone off to hunt for a non-stop to see if they sell any flour, butter, and milk…
Today is Friday. This means it’s literally the first day of the weekend. This is not the same way it’s in Europe. Here, Friday is the equivalent of Saturday - that is to say completely free!
We put the flat in a nice shape and it’s almost ready for public viewing at last. The only thing I want to do is get some frames done and put some pictures up!
I’ve added a search function to the left side of my blog. I realized that the archiving system is not convenient for searching for posts and recipes, so I googled a bit and found that at some point or other, tumblr sneakily integrated a search function!
For the tumblr bloggers out there - an app that you can just drag and drop text, pictures, whatever into and tumblr automatically posts it.
I haven’t had time to write much for the past week - this is not because there is nothing to write about. There is!
My head is spinning with random Hebrew words. It seems to get stuck on random words and then cycles them around and around, like socks in a washing machine. Right now, it is the phrase “Harbe anashim” (lots of people).
Yesterday, I watched a tiny spider, about a quarter the size of my pinky’s nail, do a strange little dance on the outside of the “panorama” window of our flat. It walked around, mainly sticking to one area, and waving its white, fuzzy mandibles around, almost like it was waving to me or dancing the flamenco.
It was very amusing, and I spent a good amount of time looking at it. I tapped the window from the inside and it was as though I had pushed the fast forward button of the spider.
He had teeny tiny little black eyes, a beige-covered body and legs, and those cute little white fuzzy mandibles. Every one of his tiny legs had an almost microscopic black dot at the end, with which it securely tapdanced on the window.
Next Wednesday or Thursday (I think) we shall begin to learn the past tense. So far, everything we have been babbling about has been in the present tense, the imperative, and the infinitive. So we can command each other to sit, say we want to dance, and then say that we are eating dogs with honey. (No dogs with honey is not eaten here, it was just an example containing two words we have happened to learn.)
It’s no longer as horrible, but the prospect of doing this for 10 more months after February to complete the second level and third level courses fills me with dread.
I’m not interested in doing it - I think it would give me a great hatred for the language. I would much rather try to learn it hands-on first when I can finally understand it, and then if it feels hopeless dive back into these exhausting courses.
I don’t have the energy to do anything other than homework and then sleep.
Hah! This is hilarious. It’s so quotable too.
But I don’t see how ANYONE could mourn the death of Clippy. Death to Clippy!
