Wonderfully rainy
I’m enjoying the cool weather of Finland. It’s only 25 degrees in te sun now, according to the thermometer, but I tell you that it feels more like 19 because the ground is still wet and cold with dew.
And everything is so green. Mm. Love it. Now if only some of these stupid birches, pines, and other generic trees could give way to some nicer trees, like oaks and chestnuts, and then I’d really be happy.
However, as green as Finland is, Austria was greener. Visiting it for the half hour I did, I really really really want to go back and see it properly for the first time. The view just from the airport was stunning, with mountains looming at the horizon, and expanses of fresh, light green forest in every direction. Even the fields look different, with many strips of color within one field: green, yellow, brown, purple (!), orange… And the airplane food, it was nice.
I would definitely fly Austrian Airlines again.
Yesterday, we grilled food outdoors and it tasted mighty good. And I forgot how much I enjoyed sticky Japanese rice. I almost felt like eating it with my fingers - it clumped together so nicely.
We’re picking up a new (temporary) car today. I’m curious to see what it will be like…
And I’m terribly exhausted. I slept 8 hours last night, but since I only slept 1 hour and snoozed on one of the planes the night before that, I still haven’t caught up with my “sleep debt”.
All I want to do today is sleep some more.
